APRIL OUTING ~ TOWN COMMON WETLAND WALK ~ SUNDAY 26th APRIL.
Our outing for Sunday week, 26th APRIL, will be another visit to the Townsville Town Common Conservation Park, this time an amble along the relatively short Town Common Wetland Walk at the northern end of the park. We hope to see the variety of forest and wetland birds that have been noticed in this section of the Town Common in recent weeks.
Meeting time and place: Around 9:45-10:00am, at Walter Nesbit Park, the playground/picnic area just outside the gate to the old Quarantine Station. The reason for the flexible time is that the walk will begin at completion of the 2026 AGM commencing at the Landcare Bush Garden on Pallarenda Road at 9am. AGMs are usually short and it’s anticipated that attendees will be able to get to Walter Nesbit Park by 10:00am, if not earlier. Non-members are welcome to join members at the 9am AGM prior to the outing, but won’t be able to vote.
Transport: People will provide their own transport, but please email us if you need a lift.
What to bring: Good shoes for walking on potentially boggy/muddy tracks, any snacks required, *WATER*, gear for birdwatching and photography, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent. Depending on the weather, a raincoat and/or umbrella could also be useful!
