MARCH OUTING ~ BICENTENNIAL PARK, ROSS RIVER ~ SUNDAY 23rd MARCH.
The outing will be this coming Sunday, 23rd MARCH, and will be a walk along the Hermit Park – Railway Estate reach of Ross River, starting from Bicentennial Park on Queens Road. This park was created back in the 1980s on the old Queens Road landfill site in Hermit Park, and presumably was named for the 1988 Bicentennial. We first walked this path in July 2022 and encountered a variety of birds using the river, the mangroves on the water’s edge, and the sparse woodland on the upper bank.
Meeting time and place: At 9:00 am, in the carpark opposite the toilet block in Bicentennial Park. The entrance to the park is off Queen’s Road, very close to the intersection of Hughes Street and Queens Road.
Transport: People will provide their own transport to the meeting place, but please email us if you need a lift.
What to bring: Good shoes for walking on a formed gravel track, morning tea, *WATER*, gear for birdwatching and photography, HAT, sunscreen, insect repellent and whatever else you think appropriate.
